Why should you take this Mold Assessor course?

This Mold Assessor course is required for professionals who will perform mold assessment and will design and write remediation plans for mold remediation/abatement projects in the state of New York. The course covers mold health hazards, biological sampling, and best mold assessment practices from preparation to cleanup.

 

New York State regulations require any individual performing mold assessment to attend an accredited mold assessor training program. Upon successful completion of the course, student will be able to submit an application to New York State Department of Labor Licensing unit to obtain a license.

 

Who needs a NY Mold Assessor License? 

Any business that engages in mold assessment on a project, advertises that it is a mold assessment business, or holds itself out as a mold assessment business, AND any individual engaged in mold assessment.

 

Mold assessment is defined as any inspection or assessment of property for the purpose to discover mold, conditions that facilitate mold, and/or any conditions that indicate they are likely to encourage mold.

Mold Remediation Contractor

Why should you take this Mold Remediation Contractor course?

All contractors who perform mold remediation or abatement work are required to take this Mold Remediation Contractor course. The course covers the health hazards of mold as well as workplace safety, engineering controls, and best practices for everything from preparation to cleanup.

 

New York State regulations require contractors who operate a company that performs mold remediation services or write/approve mold remediation work plans to have a mold remediation contractor license from an accredited training program. Upon successful completion of the course, student will be able to submit an application to New York State Department of Labor Licensing unit to obtain a license.

 

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Participants who wish to receive a NYS Mold License are required to have a valid NYS DMV ID number, in the form of a drivers license or non-driver state ID card. You do not have to be a resident of NY to apply for a non-driver ID card.

Who should take this Mold Remediation Contractor course?

Any business engaged in mold remediation must be licensed with NY DOL. Mold remediation is defined as the business of removal, cleaning, sanitizing, or surface disinfection of mold, mold containment, and waste handling of mold and materials used to remove mold form surfaces by a business enterprise, including but not limited to, sole proprietorships.

The New York State Department of Labor requires this Mold Abatement Worker course for individuals that perform any type of mold remediation or abatement work in any capacity and are employed by a licensed mold remediation contractor. This course will cover the health hazards of mold, practical methods of dealing with mold safely and efficiently, and best practices for everything from preparation to cleanup. Upon successful completion of the course, students can apply for the New York State Department of Labor certified Mold Abatement Worker license.

New York State regulations require individuals performing mold remediation or abatement to be trained as a Mold Abatement worker by an accredited training program. Upon successful completion of the course, student will have to submit an application to New York State department of labor licensing unit to obtain a license.

Mold abatement is defined as the act of removal, cleaning, sanitizing, or surface disinfection of mold, mold containment, and waste handling of mold and materials use to remove mold from surfaces by an individual.

What are the Mold Abatement Qualifications?

An applicant for a Mold Abatement License must:

  • be eighteen (18) years of age or older,

  • satisfactorily complete a

    • Mold Remediation Contractor Training Course (Required to obtain Mold Abatement Worker – Supervisor License) from a Department of Labor approved training provider,

    • OR  Mold Abatement Worker Training Course (Required to obtain Mold Abatement Worker License) from a Department of Labor approved training provider

  • pay the statutorily required application fee of $50

Mold Abatement Refresher
4 Hours    $135.00

 

This 4-hour Mold Refresher - NY course satisfies New York state requirements for mold license holders approaching expiration. This course will review mold safety and work practices as they relate to EPA, OSHA, IICRC and other governing bodies.  This course satisfies requirements for all mold license types including: Assessor, Remediation Contractor, Abatement Worker Supervisor and Abatement Worker.

 

Upon successful completion, students will earn a Mold Refresher Certificate of Completion and be able to apply to the Department of Labor for their mold renewal license.

 

Please Note: New York state mold licenses must be renewed every two years. To renew, the 4-hour refresher course must be completed. If you do not renew prior to your expiration date, you cannot perform work on mold projects until your license has been renewed, and the refresher course must be completed within 1 year of expiration. 

 

Per NYS: "If the license has lapsed for less than or exactly one year from the expiration date, the license can be reinstated by completing a mold refresher course and submitting the application package and non-refundable fee. Note that the new expiration date will be advanced two years from the original expiration date (not from the date of receipt of the renewal application)...If the license has lapsed for more than one year from the expiration date, the applicant will be required to repeat the initial mold training course before reapplying for licensure."
